Small ambitions, as in mini paintings! 🙂
So, lately I’ve been focusing on some small minimalist oil landscapes. I’m not really referencing any photos, as imagination and memory are more than sufficient for these pieces. My goal is to finish 100 of them by October, and participate in Blocktoberfest in Sherwood, AR in October 2017.
Since my favorite subject is landscapes, I sometimes wonder if that is a favorite subject for people to purchase? Should I change my subject or medium if I’m not selling anything? I’m not really sure what is the most popular medium or subject, but I try to stay true to my preference and not just paint for money. I love painting the moody skies and movement in fields. I have a color mixing bible, and a book about how one should paint. I think those are very useful tools, but I really like to come up with the colors myself. I’ve always been artistically inclined and often this carries into the kitchen and how I decorate our home. Occasionally, I might look at the ‘rules’ of painting, but am more than happy to wing it as long as I like the finished product.
Be sure to check back for updates on my goal to paint 100 minis!
I hope you have a fantastic day!
