Good afternoon and happy Thursday!
I did bring my paints to work today, but we have a pretty sick pooch at home and so I’m not in the mood to paint. Sometimes life just gets too overwhelming, with working full-time, taking care of a household, trying to keep a painting ‘career’ going, trying to exercise and lose a little weight. UGH! I AM in the mood to blog, though!
This photo is of a couple of mini oil paintings that I have gridded, and done the under painting for. These are two of my favorites by Claude Monet, for which I have done reproductions in the past. On the left is Thunderstorm With Landscape and the other is The Avenue. I don’t normally post works in progress, but sometimes it’s sort of fun to see the process. The paintings I did before were acrylic, so it’s a nice change using oil this time.
Normally, when I do my usual minimalist landscapes, I paint free-hand and don’t grid. But, when reproducing the work of a master, I always use the grid method so that everything in to scale 🙂
Regarding Blocktoberfest… for which I am frantically painting small-scale oils…I am up to 12 completed pieces! Only 88 more to go, LOL!
Today, I’m also updating the photos in my blog, so be sure to check for some new art.
Have a great day!
